The Crew
Talbott Farms is a family owned and operated fruit production business. Three sons and their father are fourth and fifth generation fruit growers and oversee the key phases of the daily operations. The sixth generation entering their teenage years is now becoming a part of the work force in the family operation. The Talbott family's production consists of over 400 acres of fruit orchards and wine grape vineyards either owned or leased. Additionally, the Talbott's pack and market peaches from numerous additional area growers. Harry Charles Talbott currently serves as Chairman of the Board. He and his sons took over the management of the business in 1985 from Harry A. Talbott his father. Charlie Talbott became the President of Talbott Farms in 2006. He went to college in Ottawa, Kansas, and traveled for two years visiting 21 different countries working at various jobs in agriculture before settling down in Palisade. He worked the farm in his youth and learned all aspects of the company from the ground up. His primary focus lies in managing the financial aspects of the business. Additionally, he plays a primary role in the development and oversight of the businesses marketing programs. He was President of the Western Colorado Horticultural Society in 2007 and Secretary from 2002-2005. His wife Brenda manages the on-sight market store for the family. Bruce Talbott, Vice President overseeing orchards and vineyards, is responsible for managing the horticultural production aspect of the business. He also went to college in Ottawa, Kansas, and later studied in England at the University of London. It was while studying horticulture in England that he gained a full appreciation for how uniquely suited our fruit growing area is for raising premium fruits. Several years were spent traveling in Europe, Africa, Asia and Central America. Within the scope of his traveling, he constantly keyed in on things horticultural. He observed fruit orchards, gardens, fruit varieties and unique pruning techniques. He serves or has served on numerous boards, Child and Migrant Services, the Colorado Rural Housing Development Corporation, the Cross Orchards Museum, the CSU Western Colorado Regional Advisory and the local volunteer fire department as fire chief, to name but a few of the organizations he actively supports. Nathan Talbott, Vice President overseeing packing and processing operations, is responsible for all packing and processing aspects of the business. He ensures that we efficiently produce a premium quality pack and runs the cider mill operations.
